Social dance of European tradition. The 16-th Summer School of Società di Danza was in Bagni di Lucca (Lucca). We have danced in one of the most nineteenth-century Tuscan Apennines, home of a famous spa town since the nineteenth century. In a beautiful natural environment, we had the opportunity to spend a few days of community life, more in-depth theoretical and practical aspects of our idea of dance. We have studied 19th century dance: waltz, quadrille, Polke, mazurka and Scottish Country Dance. The classes were divided into 3 levels. Classes and seminars will be held both morning and afternoon. The evenings have been devoted to parties. We lived at the Crown Hotel, Bridge Hotel and Park Regina Hotel.
Dancing evening on Friday 15/7 at the Circoli dei Forestieri in Bagni di Lucca.

The traditional Easter School of the Società di Danza this year was in Sestola (Mo), in the Apennines.
We studied social dances of 19th Century tradition: Waltz, Quadrilles, polka, galop, mazurka, marsches,
and Scottish Country Dance and Highland steps and dances. Classes were organized in four levels and there were classes in the morning and in the afternoon.
Late afternoons were devoted to special theoretical seminars. Two dancing evenings.
From Friday evening at dinner to Monday morning at lunch.

Social dance of European tradition.
A week of dance and vacation. Classes in the afternoon, dancing evenings, seminars on theory, grand ball risorgimentale in the Castle of Agliè.
The XV Summer School of the Società di Danza was held in Cesana Torinese (To) from 24 to 31 July 2010.
At the school had there were three levels. Classes were given in the afternoon from 15 to 18. We had walks and visit of monasteries and fortresses. We studied social dance of XIX Century European tradition: quadrille, waltz, mazurka, polka, marsch and scottish country dances.
We danced two open dancing evening in the square of the town. The Grand Ball Risorgimentale in XIX century dress was at the Castle of Agliè.

We studied social dances of XIX Century tradition: Waltz, Quadrilles, polka, galop, mazurka and Scottish Country Dance. Classes were organized in four levels and there were classes in the morning and in the afternoon. Late afternoons were devoted to special theoretical seminars Dancing evenings.
In this magnificent natural environment we spent some days together by studying in depth the theoretic and practical themes of our idea of dance.
Program: Social Dance of XIX Century tradition and Scottish Country Dance.
Accommodation at the Albergo Il Castagno rooms with two to four beds per room. From Friday evening at dinner to Monday morning at lunch.

Social dance of European tradition.
A week of dance and vacation. Classes in the afternoon, dancing evenings, romantic gran ball.
The XIV Summer School of the Società di Danza was held in Füssen, Bavaria from 25th July to August 2nd, 2009, . We joined the pleasure of dancing together with the visit to a wonderful region and the significant romantic area of the Ludwig II of Bavaria castles, and we met dance groups in Bavaria. We were at the Hotel Luidpoldpark. We danced in the center of the town, in the historical Klosterhof. We also danced in the center of Münich.
We realized the Living Museum in the Stadt Museum of Füssen with XIX century dances.
We danced an open dancing evening in the square of the city of Füssen.
At the school had there were three levels. Classes were given in the afternoon from 15 to 18. We had walks and visit of the city and the region in the morning.
We studied social dance of XIX Century European tradition: quadrille, valzer, mazurka, polka and scottish country dances.
An open social dancing evening in the center of Füssen has been realized with the participation of the public.
The Gran Ballo Romantico in XIX century dress were at the Rathaus of Füssen (the Klosterhof), in collaboration with the Stadt of Füssen, and in the center of Münich.

A week of dance and vacation in a marvellous city. Classes in the morning, free afternoon, dancing evening.
The XII Summer School of the Società di Danza was held in Praha from 29th July to 5th August 2007. We joined the pleasure of dancing together with the visit to a wonderful historical European city, and we met dance groups in Praha. We were in the Hotel William and other Hotel in Malà Strana, in the center of Praha. We danced in Tyrsuv Dum, an historical building in a walking distance from the Hotel.
There were three levels. Two classes were given in the morning from 9.15 to 12.30.
We had walks and visit of the city in the afternoon and we danced in the We had an informal dancing evening, we organized two dancing evening (one evening of Scottish dance and one evening od XIX Century dances), in collaboration with dance associations of Praha (Caledonan Club, Dvorana and Wings).
We studied social dance of XIX Century European tradition: quadrille, valzer, mazurka, polka and scottish country dances.
The final XIX Century ball in XIX Century dress was at the Obecnì Dum of Praha.

The Summer School is an opportunity to meet and share various pleasures: the dance, the mountain, the friendship and the cultural itineraries. It is a place to meet passionate and friends coming from different towns and to share the study of dance programs presented by various teachers. There were three levels. Two classes were given in the morning from 9.00 to 12.00.

On the hills of Landro, a terrace facing the sea and the Patti Gulf, There is the Summer House (Casa Estiva) of the Società di Danza. It is a place where one can spend holidays between the sea and the country over the hills, culture and nature. A place to share vacation with old friends and to meet new ones. To dance and to relax.
The Summer School is an opportunity to meet and share various pleasures: the dance, the sea, the countryside hill and the cultural itineraries. It is a place to meet passionate and friends coming from different towns and to share the study of dance programs presented by various teachers: every week a different program and teacher. Lessons are given in the afternoon at the Casa Estiva, in the cool air of the hill. In the morning one can enjoy the sea with the beach of the Patti Gulf, the surrounding countryside or the mountains of the near Nebrodi and the cultural itineraries through the ancient Sicily.

  From the end of XVII Century to the middle of XVIII Century in the European courts and theaters the 'belle dance' style became common. Grand Bal du Roi open the doors to the halls of France of Luigi XIV. The course focuses on the technique, style and French choreographic repertoire between XVII and XVIII Century, based on the philologic reconstruction and the study of the treatises by Pierre Rameau, Raoul Auger Feuillet. Classes are open to singers, musicians, dancers and to whom likes to approaches this repertoire.

Lessons are given in the afternoon at the Casa Estiva, in the cool air of the hill. In the rest of the day one can enjoy the sea with the beach of the Patti Gulf, the surrounding countryside or the mountains of the near Nebrodi and the cultural itineraries through the ancient Sicily.
From 7th to 21st August at the Casa Estiva we have studied social dance of XIX Century European tradition: quadrille, valzer, mazurka, polka and scottish country dances. One could attend one or two weeks of the Summer School.
The Casa Estiva is a meeting place where one can share dance and holiday time life, with the use of a common kitchen or the oven where one can cook on the log-fire and prepare together dinners and evening feasts. The Casa Estiva is also an Ambient Project. Every participant will plant a tree so developing a practice that we would like to lead us, in a short time, to adopt a ground to take care of, with afforestation and protection, in collaboration with ambient Associations.

The Casa Estiva is a meeting place where one can share dance and holiday time life, with the use of a common kitchen or the oven where one can cook on the log-fire and prepare together dinners and evening feasts. The Casa Estiva is also an Ambient Project. Every participant will plant a tree so developing a practice that we would like to lead us, in a short time, to adopt a ground to take care of, with afforestation and protection, in collaboration with ambient Associations.
Weeks: August, 2-9 2003 - August, 9-16, 2003 - August, 16-23, 2003 - August, 23-30, 2003.

Three days of dance in the natural park of the Emilian Apennines

The traditional Easter School of the Società di Danza this year has been in Busana (Re), in the woods of the National Park of the Apennines (Appennino Tosco-Emiliano), also known as the Parco del Gigante. The school will be at the comfortable hotel Il Castagno where there will be also the dance classes. Cooking is based on local products, according to the best Emilian tradition.
In this magnificent natural environment we spent three days together by studying in depth the theoretic and practical themes of our idea of dance.
Program: Social Dance of XIX Century tradition and Scottish Country Dance.
Classes in the morning and in the afternoon.
Evening: special theoretic seminars.
Accommodation at the Albergo Il Castagno rooms with two to four beds per room. From Friday evening at dinner to Monday morning at lunch. The form.

The Società di Danza Easter School was held in the Villaggio La Finoria , in the countryside of Tuscany, close to Gavorrano (Grosseto), in one of the most important areas in Maremma, and near to many medioeval towns, important archeological areas and the Tirrenian sea. Classes were on Nineteenth Century Dances (waltzes, quadrilles, mazurka, polka) and Scottish Country Dance. Moreover, there has been a special class on Highland Steps. There were different levels and classes. We had classes in the morning and in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday and on Monday morning. On Monday afternoon we concluded with a social dancing ball. Evenings were left for social activicties. We were located in wooden chalets (for 2-3 or 4-5 people), each completely furnished, in the Villaggio La Finoria which is located on top of a hill, surrounded by trees.

The Summer School is a moment of synthesis between Dance, Culture and Nature. The location of the School is in the Sicilian countryside overlooking the seaside. Classes on Nineteenth Century Social Dances and Scottish Country Dance wereheld late in the afternoon while the mornings were used to explore the environment and study the history of the area. In fact the towns and villages nearby our School are full of history and of beautiful sites. Like: Tyndaris, an ancient greek colony with an open air theatre in front of the sea; Patti: a Norman town where there is also a Roman villa recently discovered (full of mosaicos) and a pottery museum. Gioiosa Guardia an old town built in the mountains to escape the Saracen invasion. Marinello lakes below Tyndaris with long sands that go into the sea, the Eolian Islands (Stromboli, Lipari, Salina,Vulcano, Panarea, Filicudi and Alicudi). In the evenings there were open air balls. There was also time to enjoy together the Sicilian cuisine and to swim in the warm Tyrrhenian sea.

IV GRAN BALLO DELL'UNIONE EUROPEA
July, 5-12, 1998, Bologna-Modena-Faenza-Imola-Reggio Emilia-Pisa


For one week teachers and dancers coming from different countries met in Bologna to study and dance together social dances of Nineteenth Century tradition, reaffirming the extraordinary power of dance as a link amongst different cultures.
This year the Grand Ball wasd during two quite separate sessions: classes in the morning and balls in the evening, while the afternoons were left free. The dances taught in the morning were not performed in the evenings, classes being both a chance for studying and meeting people, not a preparation for the balls. The evening Balls were held in the historical squares of the principal towns of Emilia Romagna and in Tuscany, as an ideal reconstruction of a XIX century Ball. A videocassette containing the dances for the Balls was produced in advance by Società di Danza and the foreign dancers who wish to attend the Balls received it. In order to participate in the to Evening Balls it was necessary to have a Nineteenth Century dress or a National Formal Costume; a limited amount of dresses were also available for hire in Bologna.
